Teel's Jewelry is a family-owned business that has served the Bay Area for over 60 years. Owner Richard Teel carries on the family tradition that originated with his father, Herb Teel.
In 1947, Herb began working as a jeweler and watchmaker in downtown San Jose. Herb built a reputation for his honesty and consistent good work. He became particularly well-respected, and served as the official Southern Pacific Railroad Watch Inspector for the South Bay.
Richard worked alongside his dad for several years, and chose to concentrate on gemstones and appraising. Shortly after Herb retired, Rich opened his own store in the Fairmont Hotel, and became known for his high standards of “Excellence in Design” jewelry.
Since establishing Teel’s Jewelry in 1981, Rich has earned a solid reputation for his integrity, trustworthiness, and extensive knowledge of diamonds and gemstones. Richard and his wife Lori moved the store from downtown San Jose to Los Gatos in 1998.
